About WorkInMyRoom.com

WorkInMyRoom.com is a new site (launched in November 2007) that was designed by a "work at home" high school student - Laura Durst - for other high school and college students who would also like to generate income from their homes or, as the case may be, from their rooms.

On October 29, 2007, a Google search for the phrases "teen telework", "telework for students", and "telework for teens" rendered no results.

In a ground-breaking move to change that, Laura set out to scour the Internet for legitimate, flexible, home-based work that is appropriate for 14- to 23-year olds who are attending school, juggling homework and social commitments, and trying to save money or pay bills.

Mentored by her mother, Christine Durst, who founded the Virtual Assistance industry, co-authored the bestselling book The 2-Second Commute, and designs and delivers home-based career trainings for the US Armed Forces, the US Department of State, colleges, workforce development boards, and other organizations, Laura sees WorkInMyRoom.com as an opportunity to leverage the lessons she has learned from her mom and take them in a whole new direction.

According to Laura, "For many high school and college students, the reality is there are fewer local jobs than there are people who need or want them. Even if you're fortunate enough to find an open position, it may not afford you the flexibility you need to focus on your studies and maintain a meaningful social life. Further, it's unlikely that the job will be very personally gratifying."

Durst plans to continue building on to the WorkInMyRoom.com resources as she expands her research for legitimate opportunities for students to make money from their rooms.
