Affiliate Programs - Monetize Your Web Site

With affiliate programs, also known as "pay per action" programs, you receive a commission for generating a transaction, such as a lead or sale, for an advertiser that you're promoting.

Unlike Google Ads and other sites that place "contextual ads" - ads that are placed automatically based on keywords in the content of the page - affiliate ads are typically text, button, or banner ads that you hand-pick for your site and your audience.

While contextual ads, like Google Adsense, pay per click, affiliate ads pay per action. That is, the clicker must register for something or buy something for you to get paid.
